Legionella found in Blackburn Based Pool
Blackburns Daisyfield Pool was forced to close its doors on the 19th August due to Legionella bacteria being traced in the pools hot and cold water supplies. The building which is in much wider need of repairs is owned by Blackburn and Darwen Council but ran by a private company.
Legionella bacteria causes Legionnaires’ disease which can be serious if not fatal. This is why routine testing and maintenance is imperative, to highlight potential threats to our publics health.
The council were having to look much more closely at the future of Daisyfield pool, as there estimated repair costs over the entire building sit at close to £3.1m.
